Dr Mo Jiva announces the changes on the 6th January 2025 within the boroughs of Rochdale and Bury.
Here are the changes…
1. No blood tests or other diagnostics tests done within 4 weeks of out patient appointment or hospital discharge - should be arranged by hospital
2. No prescriptions or tests arranged for any community services including district nurses, health visitors or midwife’s
3. If hospital specialist needs a review by another specialist in the same hospital trust then they should refer and not send patient back to GP
4. Private specialist should be able to refer to a NHS specialist without referring to GP
5. If you have been advised to collect medication then you will need to wait as the GP will not issue medication within the first week of hospital discharge
6. If you need a sicknote following hospital discharge or an out patient appointment, the hospital will need to issue for the full period that you will be off work
7. If you under shared care for specialist medication then any change to medication dose, type of medication or to issue an alternative due to your regular medication being unavailable will need to be managed by your specialist and not your GP
8. Your GP may refuse to arrange specialist heart traces, breathing test or 24hour blood pressure monitoring and may refer you to the hospital to arrange the test
