Karim Sadjadpour, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment, says that legendary Persian ruler Cyrus the Great would not be happy with modern Iran’s human rights records. He says that many Iranians look to the country’s history as a source of pride and identity in the face of religious and social repression.
