Extending my visa for the first time in the Philippines at the Bureau of Immigration branch office, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan De Oro.
Just a friendly reminder, this video is my experience as an American citizen extending my visa. If you are from a country other than the USA or if you are required to have a visa for entry into the Philippines, your requirements, process, and procedures could be different. Also we went to a branch office in Northern Mindanao. You experiences could be different based on the location you choose to go through.
The first visa extension is called a visa waiver. It is for 29 days. If it’s your first extension this is the only option available.
* A valid and non expired entry stamp in my passport for my current visit.
* Photocopies of of my passport identification page and the passport number.
* A filled out Tourist Visa Extension Form (They provided this form at the office. How to fill out the form is shown starting at 2:12 in this video)
* Payment for the visa extension and fees.
From the time we arrived at the office until we were finished was only about 15 minutes. It took longer to fill out the form than anything else. However, even at the branch location, if you want your visa extension the same day you will have to pay the extra fee for express lane. Otherwise you will be required to wait three days before you can pick up your passport and papers. The cost of the visa extension and all the fees we paid are mentioned in the video.
I’m certain that one of the main reasons it was so quick was because we chose to use a branch office location and not the main office in Metro Manila. But I was told that if I ever want to take advantage of the longer stay visa options that will be available after my 2nd extension then I will have to go to Manila.
We really hope this video helps and eases any worry, stress, or anxiety you might have when it comes to extending your visa for the first time. It really was quick and easy.
It’s more fun in the Philippines. Mabuhay.
Jason is from the USA and Raisa is a Filipina.
We were in a LDR (Long Distance Relationship) when the Covid pandemic closed the borders. But now that foreigners are allowed to travel to the Philippines we finally closed the gap. After what felt like forever we are just a happy and in love couple together at last.
We want to share our daily routines, our accomplishments, our struggles, our failures, and our successes. Celebrate with us, cry with us, live, laugh, and love with us. Come experience what life is like living together in the Philippines.
