Johannes Brahms wrote Ein Deutsches Requiem op 45 for large orchestra and chorus in periods during the entire 1860:s. The first performance ot the whole work with orchestra, as it is usually performed, was in Leipzig on February 18, 1869. Danderyd's Vocal Ensemble presents the version for chamber orchestra that has been arranged for string quintet, wind quintet and timpani by Joachim Linckelmann 2011. The vocal parts are entirely intact, as is the timpani part. In this version it is still possible to perform the work with a small choir and still many of the original colors from the orchestra are retained.
