Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industries now has exclusive rights to certify goods exported to Kenya to the rest of the World under bilateral ties.
The chamber was issued with a certificate of origin on Monday following restructuring and reorganization of the chamber.
According to vice national chairperson of the chamber Mr Laban Onditi, the mandate to export goods worldwide now has to pass through the chamber but not Kenya Bureau of Standards that was in possession of the certificate.
Mr Onditi explained the chamber's history and why the certificate was taken away in 2005 and given to KBS.
The sentiments were echoed by the chairperson Mr Kiprono Kittony who said, "I am happy the Chamber is now in a position to start issuing the Certificate of Origin to our exporters".
