Nearly one year after the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel triggered the war in Gaza, Canada's promise of being a safe haven for thousands of Gazan refugees remains largely unfilled.
The federal government has launched a special, temporary visa program for Gazans with relatives in Canada, but less than 300 people have been successful out of the thousands that have applied.
As Heather Yourex-West explains, the few Palestinians who are now safe in Canada still face significant financial struggles.
