This is a closer look and breakdown of the really amazing way that Petrov taught Bubka how to pole vault. This video is a little more geared to the athlete, as it is a shorter and easier to digest version of the other Petrov Model video I created for this channel. If you enjoy a more technical analysis of the vault, please check out the other video, which is a little more geared toward the coach. Technically, as an athlete it is not such a bad strategy to make an effort just to try to look like the picture(s) of the great athletes. In your own vaulting, start with looking like Bubka in posture, as it is the foundation for the entire technique. If you start to look a little more like these pictures of Bubka vaulting, then your marks will go up. You won't be able to look like the top of Bubka's vault until you've done very much work to look like the runway and bottom of his vault. Enjoy.
