Dr. Macario began working in public mental health in 1987 and has since worked in Community Mental Health Centers.
"I think that mental health is not (only) a medical problem but rather something related to what has happened in your life, and also that the most important things in the treatment process are an attitude towards “recovery” and the belief that everyone (including the “patient” and the family members) have something important to say, much more than using the “right” techniques based on the “right” diagnosis."
He has been involved in the International Hearing Voices Movement for twenty years and is currently the Chair of the Italian Hearing Voices Network. Dr. Macario is fully training in Open Dialogue practice and is part of an Open Dialogue team within the Mental Health Department of Savona.
