O calamity! Due to some unknown diabolism, the godly seaport of Salem in the Colony of Massachusetts Bay hath transformed into a den of heathenry, Popery, debauchery, and witchcraft. Fortunately, the Witchfinder General is near at hand; he will discover the font of this corruption, and redeem this accursed town from the clutches of the Deceiver himself.
"What's up with the weird accent?" It's a rendition of Original Early Modern English Pronunciation, commonly abbreviated as OP, an accent reconstructed by a linguist and Shakespeare scholar that's our best guess as to what people in southern England sounded like in the 17th century.
