The Turn of the Screw is a frequently adapted - and imitated - literary ghost story; it's featured many times in Christmas schedules in one form or another. This dramatisation from 2004 was broadcast in the middle of Summer, however. You can also find the 1993 version (which was broadcast at Christmas) on this channel, and I will be uploading another version from 2018 in due course.
2004 was a pretty good year for radio ghost stories - not only did we get this version of The Turn of the Screw, but also Nick Walker's version of The Woman in Black, which has also been uploaded to this channel.
Other Christmas adaptations of this story include the BBCs 2009 film and the 1999 ITV adaptation starring Jodhi May... since 1993 Radio 4 has produced two further adaptations of the story, though neither of these were specifically intended for Christmas broadcast.
MYSTERIOUS MAGPIE is a channel devoted to ghost and horror stories on British radio, and to dark tales of every kind. I have another channel, MYSTICAL MAGPIE, which is all about stories of fantasy, mythology, and adventure: [ Ссылка ]
