Special prosecutor John Conroy is determined to eradicate organized crime from his city, enlisting his father, Matt, as his chief investigator. John's ambitions are complicated by Matt's hesitance and the suspicions of cynical reporter Jerry McKibbon, who has witnessed Matt's dealings with mob lieutenant Harrigan.
