Kazakhstan may stop importing five types of agricultural products, including cottage cheese, poultry, sausages, fish, and sugar. This was announced in the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, by the country’s Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov. Moreover, Kazakhstan provides itself with all major agricultural products due to domestic production. The country aims to enhance its food security. The Ministry intends to address this issue through the implementation of investment projects. The plan is to launch 780 production facilities by 2027, with an investment of 2.3 trillion tenge, including 170 projects worth 855 billion tenge for import-dependent goods. Chinese investors are showing great interest in these projects. According to the Ministry, their investments are expected to be used to build a new sugar factory, as the capacity of the four existing factories in the country is insufficient to process this year’s record harvest. This is thanks to timely funding and the application of innovative technologies.
