Here Joseph upholds God's creation ordinance of sexual intercourse only within heterosexual marriage and Joseph faces great persecution because of this. Joseph's stance led to great suffering for him and could mean the same for us. However in God's providence, God brings good out of every situation and we must remember that forgiveness is always available at the foot of the cross: 'I do not condemn you' Jesus says in John 8:11 'Go and sin no more'.
