Following a meeting with the General Affairs Council dealing with Article 50 (UK exit from the EU) Michel Barnier, the EU’s Chief, was asked when trade talks with the UK would begin. He said the withdrawal agreement will be accompanied by a political declaration. He said that a free trade agreement could begin and conclude in the transition period. That means that this will start in April 2019.
