More than half of New Jersey's fatalities due to COVID-19 have been from long-term care facilities, Governor Phil Murphy announced Tuesday.
334 deaths were reported Monday, as the death toll rose to 8,244, with 2,494 additional positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 130,593.
As the state continues to investigate NJ LTC facilities, the state launched a reporting portal where people can share evidence of misconduct involving a NJ nursing home or other long-term care facility during the COVID-19 outbreak. Murphy said the number of long-term care facilities reporting cases of COVID-19 continues to increase.
While hospitalizations had a small increase, the governor said the number of patients reported in either critical or intensive care dropped to 1,534. New Jersey now has had one full week of declining numbers.
