This Video shows the construction of a 40ft span - 2 lane, SUPER DUTY MODULAR bridge at the 300 MW Henvey Inlet Wind Project near Still River Ontario.
The bridge was one of two SUPER DUTY MODULAR bridges constructed on the project site. The second bridge was a 50ft span that was founded on a large timber crib substructure.
This bridge was constructed on reinforced concrete abutments across an unnamed creek. This SUPER DUTY MODULAR bridge with a deck width of 25'-9" was designed to provide access to the site by large tractor trailer units carrying 90ft tower sections, turbines, propellers and Nacelle enclosures for many of the 87 wind tower turbines. The design of the SUPER DUTY MODULAR bridge was based on a 16 axel, tractor-trailer carrying a substation transformer weighing 288,000 Lbs.
The SUPER DUTY MODULAR bridge consists of 3 modular panels comprised of 13 heavy steel stringers. The installation time for the bridge was less than 90 minutes.
The bridge was installed using a 14000 series Manitowoc Lattice Boom Crawler Crane with a lifting capacity of 200 tons. The total weight of the SUPER DUTY MODULAR bridge is 78,000 lbs or 39 tons.
