An introduction to Rockburn Amber, an orange wine—though it’s not made from oranges! Orange (or "amber") wine is crafted from white grapes, but it’s made like a red wine. For this wine, we use Pinot Gris grapes, placing them in a fermenter with skin contact, similar to how we make Pinot Noir. This process adds texture, complexity, and brings out a peachy-pink hue that deepens to orange as the wine ages.
The result is a wine full of texture, vibrant fruit flavours, and a mineral-driven palate with great tension. It has much more depth than a typical Pinot Gris, offering a fun, unique experience and impressive aging potential. It's a style with an exciting future!
