I added a Deligreen 8s QNBBM Battery Active Balancer to a BYD LiFEPO4 Battery module to help increase the useful capacity from the battery. With used or second hand BYD Batteries, inconsistent voltage ranges between cells including differences in cell internal resistance can severely limit the total output and capacity of the battery.
Adding a Deligreen QNBBM Active Battery Balancer helps to transfer energy to under and over-performing cells maintaining comparable and consistent voltage throughout the overall battery. I gained a 224% output increase when using the 8s QNBBM Battery Active Balancer pulling 4.1 KWH's (163 AH's) from the battery. Without using the balancer, I was only able to pull 1.2 KWH's or 50 AH's due to issues with cell #3 as described in the video.
Depending upon the state of your used batteries, results may vary when using active balancers such as the QNBBM 8s. I hope you find this information helpful. As always, perform at your own risk. Lithium batteries can be dangerous and even kill. Always use a BMS with lithium batteries. An active balancer is not a substitute for a BMS. You have been warned.
