Horton had brought in an attacking trio of Walsh, Rosler and Beagre to help his sides fortunes. It was however a one sided derby which Cantona had returned from suspension to score both goals. United started the game on level points with Blackburn (with a game in hand) but went 3 points clear again as Blackburn didn't play until the day after. The day after Blackburn looked out of steam drawing against QPR. With just 4 games to go the title was United’s to lose again. Next was a tricky fixture away to Leeds.
