Hitting the streets of Yogyakarta in Central Java it did not take long for the vibrancy of this city to become clear.

Within a few minutes of walking in the central streets the polyphonic sounds of the region came to our ears, like the rhythmic voice of this regions’ heritage.

Angklung, a traditional Indonesian bamboo instrument played to the rhythms of modern percussion fills the ears and moves the feet of passers by, breathing life into the busy roads and connecting the city’s modern exterior to it’s ancient past.
