Question :
Does Islam permit having intercourse with maiden slaves (those whom right hand possess)?
Referenced from Surah Al Ma'rij 70:30
In Islamic Fiqh, Female Slaves are divided into categories..
1. Amah (a female slave)
2. Milkul Yameen (that which right hand process)
3. Ummul Walad (mother of child)
The master of the female slave has to choose in what category he is acquiring the slave...whether he wants an Amah or a Milkul Yameen
If he has bought the slave as Amah then she is a household worker but she doesn't need to have hijab with her master.
If he has bought the slave as Milkul Yameen, then she is not exactly called Wife but she gets the rights equal to wife.
If he has bought the slave as amah, then he can keep her with any of his wives's house.
But if he has bought the slave as Milkul Yameen, then the milkul Yameen has the right of her own house, and her own equal night stays with husband just like wives.
The only difference between Milkul Yameen and Wife is that... Wife inherits from husband, but Milkul Yameen herself is inherited to the husnand's relatives
Now if, Milkul Yameen gives birth to a child of the owner.. Then she becomes Ummul Walad and now she (still cannot be called as wife but) gets all of the rights of wives..
Now when the owner died, Ummul walad becomes a free woman and she inherits from her owner and her son/daughter is also free and they inherit from their father just like other children from wives..
So... Milkul Yameen (that which right hand possess) is actually an upgraded version of Amah (slave) and Ummul Walad is the upgraded version of Milkul Yameen.
