In this video, I answer the question(s): Do you have to keep your passport valid while visiting the US? What happens if my passport expires while visiting or working in the US? 🤔
When entering the US on a non-immigrant Visa, you have to make sure that there's at least 6 months' worth of validity on your passport, from the time that you intend to stay.
So, if you're on a Tourist Visa or a Student Visa, keep the expiration date of your passport in your calendar so you'll always be reminded. Otherwise, you could get into issues with status violation.

One reminder that
I want to put out there.
It's really important.
If you're visiting the United States temporarily, it's called
a Non-Immigrant Visa.
You have to maintain a valid passport throughout that time.
If you have a Tourist Visa, a Student Visa, an H-1B
your passport should ideally be supposed to
be valid for 6 months past the date of your intended stay.
So let's say you came with a Tourist Visa
to visit the United States for 2 months. Add 6 months to that.
You should have a passport that will be valid for another 8
months. You don't want to have an invalid passport in the
United States on a temporary Visa because that could be considered
a status violation and become a problem later on.
So always keep an eye out on the expiration of your Visa
if you're visiting the United States. Have as much time as possible.
That's very important.
