More than 100 international organisations operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo, have launched a $1.8 billion appeal to provide basic needs to those displaced by conflict. Aid agencies say 27-million people are in dire need of humanitarian assistance in the DRC, mainly due to the armed conflict in the country's east.
