Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya appeared in a Kakamega chief magistrate’s court on an incitement charge, after being served with a summon for failure to appear in the same court. The court documents read that on the 26th of April 2014 at Mabole village in Kakamega, Oparanya without lawful excuse uttered words, “Kimila mpaka ifanyike, boma itandazwe”. The words allegedly made mourners burn houses, damage properties and cause injuries to four people. Oparanya denied the charge saying that Mabole was his home, and therefore he could not do such a thing. Chief magistrate Samuel Wahome ruled that Oparanya pays a cash bail of Sh200,000
