Allah say that ...
وَمَنْ تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَاِنَّه يَتُوْبُ اِلَی اللهِ مَتَابًاo
(الفرقان، 25 : 71)
’’اور جس نے توبہ کر لی اور نیک عمل کیا تو اس نے اللہ کی طرف (وہ) رجوع کیا جو رجوع کا حق تھاo‘‘
توبہ کا ایک معنی نادم و پشیمان ہونا بھی ہے حضرت عبد اللہ ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی حدیث مبارکہ میں ارشاد نبوی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہے :
اَلنَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ
(ابن ماجة، السنن، کتاب الزهد، باب ذکر التوبة)
’’(گناہ پر) پشیمان ہونا توبہ ہے۔‘‘
