The three most cold-hardy palms in the world growing at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. They are, in increasing order of hardiness, the windmill palm (Trachycarpus fortunei, the tallest arborescent or trunk-bearing palm in the world) dwarf palmetto (Sabal minor) and needle palm (Rhapidophyllum hystrix, the hardiest palm in the world).
