Finally there is some respite for iron ore miners and steel-makers. After an 18-month long wait the Supreme Court has partially lifted the mining ban in Goa. But in a bid to curb illegal mining, the apex court has capped the output at 20 million tonnes a year. While the move will brighten the prospects of domestic players like Sesa Sterlite, it will also help India regain its lost share in the export market. A final call will be taken after a court-appointed panel submits its report on the environmental impact in the next six months.
