Striking lawyers and unpaid teachers on Friday (31/1) joined the protest
against the government of President Slobodan Milosevic.
Thousands of striking teachers called for the resignation of the education minister, payment of salaries as much as three months' overdue and a rise in their pay. They shut down 178 of Belgrade's 201 schools.
