A thin, flexible new material steals its color-shifting capabilities of cephalopod skin. Certain cephalopods, such as this cuttlefish, camouflage themselves using multilayered skin that mimics the colors and patterns around them. Using cephalopod skin as a blueprint, materials scientists created a thin, flexible material that can respond to changes in light.
