Seven people were killed and at least 10 wounded when a shell hit a group of people lining up to collect water in a Sarajevo suburb, Sunday.
A lull after three days of fierce fighting around the capital had drawn people out onto the streets.
The shell landed in the southwestern suburb of Dobrinja. Hospital officials said seven people were killed and at lease ten wounded.
Despite a relatively calm start to the day, life for the beleaguered residents of Sarajevo returned to brutal normality when a mortar shell hit a suburb.
The shell landed around midday as people were queuing to collect water.
Like others in the suburb of Dobrinja, the shelling victims had ventured outside during a lull in three days of fierce fighting around the capital.
Within seconds, seven people lay dead, and several seriously injured were being rushed to the hospital.
A doctor treating the casualties described the injuries as those expected after such an incident.
