Colossal explosion rocks Beirut, it is believed to have been storage for chemicals and casualties are expected to be high, with dozens killed and thousands already known to be injured. 300,000 people were left homeless.

This was around 2,750 tonnes of chemicals about a 1/6 (one sixth) the size of the first atomic bombs (which were equivalent to around 15,000 tons of TNT).
