Join us for an in-depth discussion on the roles played by
emergency management and local community partners in the time leading up to, and in the immediate aftermath of disaster events. In this session, our speakers address their respective functions when reacting to an event, discuss the overall mechanism of disaster response, and explore the importance of collaboration with community disaster relief partners. Panelists discuss their experiences during disaster response and offer insight, successes, and suggested areas of improvement for a collaborative disaster response. The discussion also includes thoughts on community resilience through the scope of long-term recovery; ideas on strengthening the relationship between government and non-government resources; and how non-traditional disaster relief partners, such as legal aid, can further integrate into a holistic approach to disaster recovery.
