In Vermont, legislators are aiming to codify abortion access. State lawmakers passed an amendment to their constitution which will protect access to abortions and contraceptives. The Reproductive Liberty Amendment (Prop 5) was approved 107 to 41. It will go before Vermont voters in November. State Representative Anne Donahue joins to talk more about this amendment and why it was proposed in the first place. Donahue shares the significance of this move, especially with the enactment of heartbeat laws in states like Texas, and Dobbs v Jackson being considered by the Supreme Court. She explains what type of impact this could have on health care workers as far as conscience rights. As far as Prop 5, Donahue fills us in on what she is hearing from her constituents and how she thinks this will shape out at the polls. The state representative discusses her message to Vermont voters who will see this proposal on their ballots in November.
