Somalia is still struggling to recover after the worst floods in recent history left an unknown number of people dead and thousands more displaced. Authorities in Beledweyne town, which was worst hit by the floods, want the international community to assist the country in finding lasting solutions to the situation. In November 2019, Somalia and the United Nations Development Program, launched a 10 million dollar project to expand weather monitoring resources and to train the population in water conservation and flood management.
