In this episode Barry talks about the fish known as the Kribensis.
These dwarf cichlids are native to the diverse waters of the Ethiop River Drainage where conditions can range from soft and acidic to alkaline and brackish. Therefore, this fish is very suitable for a variety of aquariums and is easy to maintain. Kribensis stay relatively small with a maximum size of 4 inches. The males and females are easily distingished since the females are rounder and display a red belly. They are suitable for the general community tank given that no tank mates have long fins that may be nipped. They occupy the lower portions of the tank and should be provided a cave of some sort. If a pair is purchased, it is recommended to keep them in a tank alone or in a tank without other bottom dwellers since they will aggressively defend their young.
