The Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay has completed its journey through the world's largest country. The Flame of the Winter Games had visited the top of Elbrus and the bottom of Lake Baikal, the realms of the permafrost in Yakutia and the slopes of an active volcano in Kamchatka. The Olympic torch relay longest in the history entered the homestretch. The final stage of the multi-kilometer travelling of the symbol through the regions of Russia was held in the capital of the Winter Games in 2014.
The Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay is the longest in the entire history of the Olympic Winter Games. During the Olympic Torch Relay, 14,000 torchbearers had carried the Sochi 2014 Olympic torch through 2,900 settlements of 83 regions of the country. The Relay has finished with the Olympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony in Sochi on February 7, 2014.
