For just the second time over the last ten years, we at OSRL organised a real oil on water exercise to test and validate chosen surveillance technologies. Needless to say, much planning and preparations were in place to ensure that the environment was not harmed and all regulations were safely met. Technologies such as shoreline clean-up assessment technique, satellite imagery, UKCS aircraft sensor validation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), surveillance kite, autonomous underwater vehicles were tested.
