How To Install a MagnaClean Professional 2 filter in a central heating system.
The ADEY MagnaClean Professional 2, fits on the 22mm central heating return pipe. Ideal location is just below the boiler with enough space to open it for cleaning. Read the instructions before you start.
PREPARATION
Turn off the boiler. (So that it doesn't try to pump water during installation.)
Drain the central heating water. (So that you don't get everything wet when you cut in to the pipe.)
(I also isolated the combi boiler from the central heating system so that I didn't have to wait for all the water to drain out of the boiler too.)
Attach one end of a hosepipe to the radiator drain valve and the other end outside, at a lower level, to allow the water to drain.
Open the radiator drain valve.
Open the bleed valve on the top of the highest radiator in the house, to allow air to enter the central heating system. (you will hear the air hissing in to the radiator.)
The water will then drain out through the hosepipe.
INSTALLATION
Decide where to locate the MagnaClean.
Clean the outside of the central heating return pipe to allow a good seal. (I used wire wool to clean the paint off.)
Using a 22mm pipe slice, make the first cut in the pipe.
Use the 150mm template sticker or a tape measure to mark the pipe.
Make the second cut in the pipe.
Remove the 150mm section of pipe.
De-burr the cut ends of the pipe.
Remove the nut and olive from the lower MagnaClean isolation valve (B) and put them on the lower pipe.
Slide the valve assembly on to the upper pipe, with isolation valve (A) on top, then slide down on to the lower pipe until it stops.
Slide up and re-attach the nut to valve (B).
Tighten the compression nuts with a 32mm spanner.
Remove the spacer from the short pipes.
Slide the trigger on to the two short pipes, with the red screw wheel facing away from the pipe.
Slide the MagnaClean cannister on to the short pipes until it stops.
Unscrew the red wheel until it touches the cannister.
Then open the quarter turn isolation valves.
REFILL THE SYSTEM
Close the drain valve and remove the hosepipe from the radiator.
Make sure all of the radiator bleed valves are closed.
Re-fill the central heating system with the filling loop until the required pressure is achieved.
Check for leaks.
Turn on the boiler. (Set the correct time on your boiler clock.)
Turn on the heating.
Bleed the radiators to remove air from the central heating system.
Top up the pressure in the boiler.
Remember to clean the filter as required.
