Since the Verbier Festival's first edition in 1994, no artist has appeared more frequently over the ensuing 31 years than Mischa Maisky. Over three decades and hundreds of appearances, the iconic cellist has firmly planted his artistic roots in the alpine hills, offering heartfelt performances with both friends and family. By releasing “Mischa Maisky in Verbier”, from which the track Maisky performs here is taken, Verbier Festival Gold raises a well-earned toast to exceptional interpretations of Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Bruch, Grieg, Paul Juon, Richard Strauss, and Rachmaninov. Throughout the wide variety of scores, Maisky's sensitive and soulful approach is bolstered by collaborations with Charles Dutoit, Martha Argerich, daughter Lily, and son Sascha.
