While it is our fundamental rights to have access to and ownership of Land. That right is not absolute as illustrated by the massive demolition exercise carried out by the Lagos state government last week at GRA, Abijo, Ibeju-lekki, Lagos. Properties worth hundreds of millions of Naira were lost during that demolition exercise. No doubt, there has been many instances in the past of this type of demolition in one place after another. Unfortunately, many people have chosen to experience this heartbreaking situation firsthand rather than learn from other's experience. Moreover, why will anyone buy a land let alone embark on massive building project without first conducting proper land check and building plan registration, just to mention a few.
