SOIL COLOUR
Our second visual soil indicator is the colour or, rather, the difference in colour between our sample and the reference sample. The darker the soil, the more organic matter it contains. This can be seen in the colour difference between these two clods. Having the same moisture content in both samples, the colour difference is due to the difference in organic matter. The organic matter of the reference sample is much higher than that of our sample, which is much darker. Therefore the evaluation is “poor”.
