Pods are the most concentrated form of laundry detergent since they have very little water in them. This is done by keeping the active cleaning ingredients separate before the intended use.
To ensure your pods break up fully during the wash here are some tips:
1) Only put them in the drum / wheel of the washer. THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED TO BE PUT IN THE DETERGENT TRAY UNLESS there is a special tray for them (only a few machines have this)
2) Put them under your clothes (load your clothes after putting a pod in)
3) Put the pod in a sock or mesh bag to give it some additional rubbing
4) Run it under warm water for a few seconds before adding to the drum
However there is a lot of discussion going around about if the PVA used in pods is actually plastic and if PVA causes microplastics. There is a lot to this discussion and I’m excited to find out more.
