These is still some community sense in Rotterdam. Luchtsingel is proof of that. It has been funded by hundreds of Rotterdammers, who were all for crossing the gap over a busy motorway from the northern part onto the city centre. It is called Luchtsingel (roughly translated as Air Canal). The official opening of the first phase of the wooden construction was done in a festive way by all who contributed to materialisation of the bridge by funding planks with their names on it. Port reporter and her husband were amongst them.
