Local Perthshire competitors in the Scottish Lilt Highland Dance competition during the 2022 Kenmore Highland Games. These friendly Games were held on Wednesday 6th July 2022 at Kenmore by Loch Tay in beautiful Perthshire, one of the few evening Highland Games in Scotland.
It is believed that the Scottish Lilt is a courting dance, performed by Scottish gentlewomen to show how graceful they could be. It is a combination of the Highland and Ballet forms of dance and for which the dancers wear the Aboyne outfit, the prescribed attire for female dancers in the Scottish national dances, which includes Skirt, Waistcoat & Plaid.
