This is another video where I thumb through an old Dutch Radio book. Now of 1937, thus just before WW 2. First video (Book of 1927) is here [ Ссылка ]
Info about the authors and the publisher are in the first part of the video. This book is more “technical” and “scientific” about radio technology, still relevant now (of course) in 2025. Physics laws don’t change.
Remarks and corrections to the video:
1. On 3.15 in the video: I say “there is no spark between the electrodes” (created by the HV coil), but of course there must be a spark to activate the whole tuned circuit to frequency “X”, consisting of the L (coil) and the C (capacitor) and the Loop antenna with its wiring. Damped electromagnetic waves are generated in this circuit;
2. On 5.32 in the video: the book tells many things about how to get the spark under control. When using it in the most primitive way of making a radio transmitter, of course. Unstable sparks made an unstable radio frequency to be transmitted. The spark plasma reacts on magnetism, so with fixed magnets they could give the spark a certain “form” and hold its plasma within a certain confined space. Compare the problem to the so called “Tokamac experiments” & everything now (2021-2025) that is done in France to get the plasma in the fusion reactor under control with the help of magnetic fields. Thus not new.
3. Another way of controlling the spark in a confined space was to drip “spiritus” (= an ethanol-water combination) into the enclosure where the spark was created.
4. On 6.14 I talk about the “tube”. Not is ment: a radio tube. It is simply a copper wire or a copper tube or tube/wire made of another metal that conducts electricity, thus makes electrons flow.
5. On 8.27 in the video I talk about the so called “hand effect”. Radio stations do (of course) not “fade away” when you touch a tuning capacitor with your hand. The only thing is that the capacitance of the tuning capacitor changes, it means that the L-C (antenna or oscillator) circuit is de-tuned. Can happen in a TRF radio type, or a superheterodyne radio type.
6. On 11.21 you see triode tube radio oscillators. You can even make these 1937 circuits now. The physics stay the same. When such a tube oscillator does not want to work or start: reverse the electrodes (= wires) of the backcoupling coil to the grid. This regards both 1 transistor L-C oscillator circuits and 1 tube L-C oscillator circuits. Many properly working 1 transistor oscillators for MW/LW/SW are on my YT Channel. NB: talking about the oscilloscope tube (end of the video) I swapped the hor. and vert. plates, when telling about them, sorry for that. Also that the video stopped suddenly, my max. time is 15 minutes, after that time my camera will switch off "somewhere".

Especially: do not fall into the trap of "home batteries" advertisements, telling off-grid stories. Say home batteries made by Tesla or other brands. Calculate everything first, to judge such an option in economic/financial terms. 5 January 2025.
