Studies show that wine can boost memory.
A survey was conducted on women in their 70s where they took memory quizzes.
In the end, those who drank a glass of wine or more scored way better than those who had less wine nor none at all.
Wine contains elements--resveratrol in particular--that prevent clots and reduces blood vessel inflammation, two effects that are linked to cognitive decline and heart disease.
2. Promotes weight loss
Based on research, people who drink wine daily have lower body mass compared to those who only indulge occasionally.
Furthermore, moderate wine drinkers have less abdominal fat, which in turn, has narrower waists, than people who drink liquor.
This is primarily because alcohol encourages the body to burn additional calories for as long as an hour and a half after downing a glass.
Beer, as it turns out, has a similar effect.
Helps develop better bones
On average, women who drink one glass of wine a day have higher bone mass than those who do not.
It appears that alcohol can boost estrogen levels, a hormone that can slow the body’s destruction of old bone marrow more than it slows the development of new bone.
4. Enhances your immune system
In one study, it was found out that people who drank a glass of wine a day were able to reduce their risk of infection by Helicobacter pylori bacteria by 11%.
The said bacteria is a leading cause of stomach cancers, gastritis, and ulcers.
What’s more, another study revealed even a half a glass can help defend the body against food poisoning caused by germs like salmonella when exposed to contaminated study.
5. Increases antioxidants
Many research about wine has to do with antioxidants, and for good reason.
Antioxidants like polyphenols, resveratrol, and especially flavonoids are believed to protect the body.
This is done by aid defending the cells and tissues against harm that can result in various diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
Wine, specifically red wine, is loaded with those three antioxidants.
6. Protects your heart
Red wine has tons of cardio-healthy effects, and a recent review has shown that drinking red wine is associated with a lower risk of getting heart disease.
It can also help increase “good” cholesterol, which works to clean up the “bad” cholesterol from the system and reduce the amount of clogging in the arteries.
