In my last video, I tested 12 different writing implements, both pens and pencils, on dry Rite in the Rain notebook paper. In this video, I show how the same 12 pens and pencils perform on paper when it gets wet.

This is done in two stages. First, I demonstrate how dry ink or lead on dry paper is affected by the application of water. Second, I show how each of these writing tools performs on already damp paper.

One result was particularly surprising: even though the Space pen can work in zero gravity, a useless trait to outdoorsmen, its ink does not adhere to wet paper as well as the ink from standard ballpoints. Each ballpoint, especially the Zebra F-301, out-performed the Space pen. So it does not appear that the Space pen is worth the money for the outdoorsman.
