Each year the Knights of Columbus conduct an international pilgrimage with a silver rose to honor the Blessed Virgin.
In Rome, December 2014, Pope Francis received and blessed a silver rose on the Feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Each April identical roses are directed southward from Canada on a long journey of prayer that will end on December 12th at the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico.
The rose, symbol of purity, was the central element in the 1531 miracle of Guadalupe in which roses appeared in the mantle of Juan Diego, a humble peasant.
