Apple is the first trillion-dollar publicly traded corporation in U.S. history. The company was valued at $1,001,679,220,000 when Wall Street closed Thursday. Ronald Wayne, one of Apple's original founders, sold his 10 percent stake in the 1970s after just 12 days for $800. Today his shares would be worth $100 billion.
