-Lower your expectations-getting them comfortable on the mountain is the main goal, anything else is a bonus!
-Adjust and make sure they are comfortable in their boots and skis before you ever set foot on the mountain!
-Bring lots of snacks and water-special treats/candies are a bonus.
-Make sure they are warm- double layers, hand warmers, face shields, etc.
-Start them with a backpack- makes picking them up when they fall down a million times easier.
-Be animated and enthusiastic with your teaching.
-Try different ways to teach and do the one that works best for you! (Skiing backwards, using a backpack with straps, parallel skiing holding a pole, etc)
-Alternate between edgy wedge on and off to help them learn faster at first (not the first day, just throughout their first weeks/year)
-Give them high praise, consistently!
-Priority #1 is FUN-make it fun however you can, and they will love it as much as you do!
Now go hit the slopes, you got this👊🏼
